Betty L., 80
Betty’s neck pain didn’t happen all at once—it got worse little by little, leaving her puzzled. “It was like something would catch when I turned my head to the right,” she recalled. At 80 years young, Betty is sharp and physically active. She loves spending time on her computer, but sitting for long periods made the pain worse—often as bad as “9 out of 10.” As the pain grew stronger, she knew she needed help. Luckily, Betty has a good relationship with her primary care doctor, who suggested physical therapy to start her recovery.
Around the same time, Betty talked to her doctor, she got a call from a TailorCare Clinical Navigator, who is a licensed physical therapist. Betty remembered seeing a letter from TailorCare through her Medicare Advantage plan and was curious to learn more.
On the call, the Clinical Navigator explained how he could monitor her care plan and check in with her every few weeks. Betty liked the idea of having extra support and thought it would help her stick to her home exercise program.
“I liked that my Clinical Navigator checked in on me every two weeks. He was very pleasant on the phone and knowledgeable,” Betty shared.
Betty’s physical therapy lasted a couple of months, and her Clinical Navigator kept calling to encourage her. These check-ins helped Betty stay on track with her exercises. Now, Betty says her pain is “minimal” and feels so grateful for both her physical therapist and Clinical Navigator.
